Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Training

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness workshops are designed to teach how to work with individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The training includes an overview of:

  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing Cultural Awareness

  • American Sign Language

  • Modes of Communication

  • Tips for Working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals

  • Working with a Sign Language Interpreter

  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing ADA Guide for Government Services

  • Steps in Obtaining Interpreting Services

Community Building

Community Presentations

Presentations are tailored to your school, church, civic club, professional organization, agency or business with speakers available to you on a range of topics related to deafness, hard of hearing and the Deaf culture. Bridges also provides specialized training to law enforcement and first responders.

ASL I, II, and III

Community Classes

 

 

Basic Conversational American Sign Language Level I, II, and III are designed to help adults learn the structure of ASL grammar and vocabulary, manual fingerspelling, Deaf culture and conversational practice.

Workshops for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Topics range from Living Wills and Estate Planning to Safe Interactions with First Responders and Housing Rights, etc.

AEO provides social, relationship-building days and activities that build and bond our Deaf and hard of hearing communities. These include 2nd Friday Game Days, potlucks, holiday meals, field trips, theatre outings, and more.
